We have all done it. Made an assumption that backfired or was totally wrong.
I did it the other day. I was waiting for a supplier to come to a meeting. I sent a text message after 5 mins and then another after another 10 mins had elapsed. The problem was the second was scathing.
Unfortunately I did not know the full picture. I made an assumption. The anger and arrogance of being stood up by a supplier, someone I was going to spend money with, was wrong. All I did was ruin a relationship.
You see unless you have all the information and thought about all the outcomes making an assumption can be costly so don’t do it.
Take your actions based on facts; all the facts!
