Then you need to understand the difference between needs and wants.
I want to do lots of things but I don’t need to do them.
I want lots of things but I don’t need them.
So the first thing to do is to define some goals – these are the things you need to do!
- What 3 big goals do you have to have achieved this year?
- In order to achieve these 3 big goals – what are the most important projects or priorities that need to be completed to achieve these goals? And,
- To achieve the projects what are the tasks that need to be accomplished on an ongoing basis?
Until these needs are met you can’t do what you “want” to do – that is the secret to getting anything you want. You see we can only tick off the wants when the needs are done.
I want lots of new shiny toys – if I don’t do the work that needs to be done so that I can get paid and have money to buy the stuff I want – I ain’t ever going to get it.
Get what needs to be done and then you can go after whatever you want.
