There are three things you need:
Access to counsel, connections and a good strategy.
The best in the world get advice and counsel from the best in the world. This is the success breeds success mentality.
It’s not what you know but who you know. This is not something I can teach but if you persevere and troll through LinkedIn and attend events etc. coupled with a bit of luck being in the right place at the right time has happened to a few, again – not something you can force, but it is something you can try plan for.
Remember – you can also start one rung down! Network with the up and coming as opposed to the Doyens of the world.
Having a strategy and having a winning strategy is very different – you have to have “the” strategy.
If you can get all three of these lined up and working together you should be closer to getting in to the Inner Circle.
The good news is once you succeed once – you can succeed again and again.
